Taking the overall championship at Royal Norfolk Show under judge John Dykes from the Mendick herd was David and Lesley Sapsed’s Dirnanean Kitty 2nd. This was her fifth breed championship of the year, she had already stood breed and interbreed champion at Newark and Notts, Herts County, Cheshire and interbreed female at South of England.
Standing reserve female to Kitty was the Sapsed’s polled heifer Heathbrow Caramel. Born March 2011 she is by Dirnanean Welcome and out of Heathbrow Valentine, a Heathbrow Niagra daughter. Earlier this season Caramel was interbreed champion at Suffolk Show.
Other south east group members doing well were the Borlase family’s Sacombe herd, they won the senior bull class and took reserve male champion with Sacombe Balmoral. Born January 2010, Balmoral is by Sacombe Nijinsky N68 and is out of the Slievenagh Fantastic daughter Sacombe Louise-Oma and is owned in partnership with Ann and Tony Jukes of the Swallowhill herd.
Also Hayley Clarke’s Williams Wendy’s Dromeda stood reserve junior champion. This Heathbrow Tristar daughter is out of Sterling Petra’s Wendy, a Sterling Rochester daughter.
