Congratulations to the Broadreed Farm Partnership on coming through as small herd winners and then champion herd winners in the 2013 herd competition, kindly judged by Gerald Smith of the Drumsleed herd. They took home the Revelex cup for the champion herd, along with the Shebdon Tankard for the best group of maiden heifers.
Winning the best bull born after January 1st 2013 was Hayley Clarke with William’s Elliot, a Heathbrow Tristar son out of Horsfordmannor Vikki. The Clarke family continued a great run of form in the competition as they also scooped the best heifer born after January 1st 2013 with Williams Wednesdays Emily, another Tristar daughter out of a Sterling bred female, as well as the Merian Jones award for the best youngstock and they came second in the Large herds section. Winner of this section was David and Lesley Sapsed of the Heathbrow herd. They ended their great success by winning the Simmental of the Year Award with Williams Draco.
Winning the dam and one progeny section was the Hurn family of the Twyford herd with Twyford Willow and Twyford Evermore. They also won the medium herds section, while the best stock bull section went to C H Carter for Dirnanean Shane, while Rhys Grenham won the Mike Jones Memorial Cup for the best family group with the Karina family from his Boars Head herd. Then picking up the David Barker Award for knowledge of the breed was Lizzie Harding.
